Due to a combination of no internet and a thesis due at the end of the month, blogging has been at a bare minimum for the past week. But it is hard to resist keeping you all up to date about the wonder of Villagers, who had quite a busy week.

Conor J played two shows at Electric Picnic last weekend, a 2pm show at Body And Soul on Saturday was announced over Twitter three hours beforehand. Then they were in London for the Mercury Music Prize. They were nommed for Becoming A Jackal, which is a shoo-in for the Choice next year after it was pipped by The xx’s xx, a deserved winner.

And then they only announced an Irish tour. They are playing the enormo-dome of the Savoy in Cork-bigger than Vicar Street, which they are also playing. And they are doing a show in St John’s Church in Limerick. It all happens in the weeks coming up to Christmas, and if there is one band who must be seen live, it is Villagers. Whether it is Conor solo, or Conor and the boys in tow, it is a magnificent sight.

And in between all of this they made a new video. Ghostly, and below. Third single off the album. Wouldn’t be surprised if he did a Beyonce and released nine singles from the album, such is the strength of the tracks. Dates for the tour are under the video.

And here it is performed solo, slow and wonderful at Electric Picnic for 2fm.

The tour:
Monday December 13: Waterford, The Forum
Tuesday 14 Kilkenny, Set Theatre
Wednesday 15 Cork, Savoy Theatre
Friday 17 Limerick, St Johns Church
Saturday 18 Dec Galway, Black Box
Sunday 19 Belfast, Limelight
Tuesday 21 Dublin, Vicar Street

See you in Cork and Limerick…
