The Walkmen are one of the perennial New York bands. Whereas people have mostly written off The Strokes et al, The Walkmen and Yeah Yeah Yeahs are still plying their trade, to much acclaim, around 10 years after first coming to prominance.

The Walkmen’s latest release, Lisbon is their sixth full-length. And it is the very definition of cool. They have everything that the Strokes lost in the past few years: the drawl, the guitar, the lyrics, the swagger, and the very notion of being a band. It is a wonderful 13 track trip back into what rock ‘n’ roll should be. It was released on Bella Union a few weeks back, and is below in all its streaming glory.

And if you don’t like anything above, then why not check out ‘The Rat’, the band’s most recognisable track, and the one that summarises everything.
