I was enthusing about Tennis with Right Hear over the weekend on Twitter, about how ‘Marathon’ might be the track of the year. He said that it was by far the best thing on the forthcoming album.

And today, we get a glimpse into what the album might sound like. It looks like the ridiculous picture above, and sounds like ‘Take Me Somewhere’, which you can stream below.

Tennis – ‘Take Me Somewhere’

It is 2.48 minutes long and starts not unlike the first track off The Walkmen’s new album, ‘Juveniles’. ‘Take Me Somewhere’ is an indie take on doo-wop, with swirling guitars and dreamy vocals. A slow tempo draws you in for the pre-chorus, before the chorus kicks into gear with ooo-ooos and an uplifting second first. “Sitting in the sand, waiting for you to return to land,” goes the second verse. If you didn’t know by now, Tennis are a husband and wife team who enjoy sailing. Enjoy the track, and for more, listen to ‘Marathon’ below.

Both will be on the album, Cape Dory, due out on Fat Possum records in January.
