It was back in July that we heard the first offerings from new Cut Copy. Whereas ‘Where I’m Going’ was all woo-hoos and Animal Collective-type yelping, ‘Take Me Out’ sounds like an instant classic take on a pop song. The synths are instantly recognisable as the Australians’ work, and the undercurrent of moaning throughout the track is not a world away from one of the best songs off their last album, ‘Lights And Music’.

The band may not be able to leap out of the shadow that their last album cast, but with the new tracks pointing to something just as danceable, fans needn’t be worried just yet. The band have announced a European tour to coincide with the new album, which will be entitled Zonoscope, but as yet no Irish dates have been announced, but they will be, probably for the start of March.

People on Soundcloud say it sounds like Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Little Lies’, in case you wanted another reference…
