Yes there are other Christmas songs apart from Slade, John Lennon and The Pogues. Below is a playlist of 10 Christmas oriented songs by bands such as Blink 182, Pearl Jam, Los Campesino!, Best Coast and Wavves, and The Ramones. All finished off with one of my favourite Christmas songs of all time, which, yes, you will have heard a million times already since October.

With only 11 days to go until the big day, what better way to get in the festive spirit by crooning along with the Mr Christmas himself Julian Casablancas? Why not let Otis Redding seduce you under the mistletoe this year. Or listen to Best Coast and Wavves trip together.

All this and more is below in The Point Of Everything’s Christmas Playlist. So get out the mince pies and the mulled wine, light the fire and turn up The Point Of Everything Christmas Playlist. All the tracks are in the comment section. There is also a tracklisting after the jump.

The Point Of Everything Christmas Playlist tracklisting:

Otis Redding – ‘Merry Christmas Baby’

Best Coast, Wavves – ‘Got Something for You’

Sufjan Stevens –  ‘Hey Guys! It’s Christmas Time!’

Julian Casablancas – ‘I Wish It Was Christmas Today’

Pearl Jam – ‘Someday at Christmas (Stevie Wonder cover)’

Blink-182 – ‘I Won’t Be Home For Christmas’

The Ramones – ‘Merry Christmas (I Don’t Want to Fight Tonight)’

Slow Club – ‘Christmas TV’

Paul McCartney – ‘Wonderful Christmastime’

And if you prefer a more Irish take on the Christmas spirit, have a listen to the Popical Island Christmas ep over at State. Harmless Noise beat me to a Christmas post. We both had problems with actually getting it up and it turns out that she stuck with it longer. So make sure to check out ‘TIS THE SEASON TO SAY ‘FECK THE HALLS AND BOUGHS OF HOLLY, I’VE GOT A REINDEER OUTSIDE’’

And a final shout out to Stevie G’s Christmas playlist on Podomatic. Extensive would be an understatement.
