Thank goodness for Drowned In Sound. If it wasn’t for their thread on the new Arctic Monkeys song ‘Brick By Brick’ I probably would have had second thoughts about Alex Turner’s genius. The thread threw up a sampler of the forthcoming Submarine soundtrack that Turner created. The movie was directed by Richard Ayoade and is sure to be an indie hit. The music meanwhile leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy again and is obviously closer to Last Shadow Puppets territory than Humbug or *shudder* ‘Brick By Brick’ territory. “I’m not the kind of fool that’s going to sit and sing to you girl/About stars girl/But last night I looked up into the dark side of the blue and we’d gone backwards,” he sings in a breathy manner and will indeed leave you swooning. The voice is everything that is missing with the new Arctic Monkeys track and the disparity could leave plenty of disappointed fans this year. The tracklisting of the EP is below and it is out on Domino next week.

‘Stuck on the Puzzle’
‘Hiding Tonight’
‘Glass in the Park’
‘It’s Hard to get around the wind’
‘Stuck on the Puzzle’
‘Piledriver Waltz’
