An unexpected blast of energy is emanating from my speakers right now. ‘Anti Omerta’ is the name of the new Logikparty song and for 140 seconds is nothing less than exhilarating. After an EP and one or two other songs, Dublin group Logikparty are finally ready to release an album; Oh Cult is set to be released in March on Richter Collective/White Plague Records. Omerta is a code of silence among the mafiosa. As Wikipedia informs us, “Even if somebody is convicted of a crime he has not committed, he is supposed to serve the sentence without giving the police any information about the real criminal, even if that criminal has nothing to do with the Mafia himself. Within Mafia culture, breaking omerta is punishable by death.” So you can imagine what ‘Anti Omerta’ is about. The track sounds tailormade for Ireland, where about 14 per cent of people are unemployed. All together now, at the top of your voice: “Make some money!” Listen to Logikparty’s ‘Anti Omerta’ below and download it for free at their Bandcamp. They play the Richter Collective Christmas party at the Button Factory on December 16. Tickets are available here for €12.
