Another great year of music is coming to a close. Below are my 30 favourite international songs of the year (last week I put up my 30 favourite Irish tracks of the year). There could have been plenty more but I’m sure you’ll find lots of other tracks to enjoy on the myriad music blogs doing the rounds at the moment. If you had told me at the beginning of the year that Arctic Monkeys would release an album in 2011 but my favourite song from it would only be my 19th favourite track of the year overall, I wouldn’t have believed you. But such is the strength of music and, particularly, the new bands coming through. In the top 30, I think there are nine bands who have either not released a full album yet, or are on their debut LP. Expect to hear more from a lot of those bands next year. There’s a handy copy ‘n’ paste list of my favourite songs of 2011 here, and after the jump you can listen to every single one of them, most with accompanying videos.
