This Friday, Cork gets to experience three of the best producers in the country. Cork’s own Toby Kaar is headlining the Pavilion on Friday night, accompanied by Bantum and Adultrock. Toby has had a tumultuous last 12 months. After playing Whelan’s Ones To Watch festival last January, he’s had every blog in Ireland fawning over him, and with good reason. After supporting the likes of And So I Watch You From Afar, he’s sure to have learned a few tricks for the live show along the way – the headbanging might not be as ferocious though. Bantum, meanwhile, dropped his debut EP Lay Lay last year. Though only four songs long, I’ve played it to death. Can’t wait to see what he does to it live. Adultrock is the sideproject of Gavin from We Are Losers. Though nowhere near as loud – my ears are still ringing from the Losers show in October – Adultrock knows his way around a tune. ‘Ripe Ripe’ sounds made for a late-night festival slot, while ‘Vowels’, which was only put up online in the early hours of this morning, points to an artist who’s still developing – and at a phenomenal rate. Hopefully there’s an album in all three in 2012. After the jump you can listen to the music of all three. See you in the Pavilion on Friday night (my first gig of the year).
