Factory Floor have been making my ears throb more than most other bands over the past few months. One-third of the London group, Nik Colk (Nik Void), has teamed up with two parts of Throbbing Gristle, Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti, to form the aptly named Carter Tutti Void. They have a four-track album coming out towards the end of March entitled Transverse. Above is ‘V3, the third track on the LP, preceded by ‘V1’ and ‘V2’, and followed by, yup, you guessed it, ‘V4’. I’ve listened to the shortened version of ‘V3’, above, about 10 times now, each time turning my speakers up louder and louder. It’s one of those songs which has so many tiny bits going on underneath the surface that you need to pay attention to truly appreciate it. And once you appreciate it you won’t want to stop hitting the replay button, even though it is quite unsettling. There’s more info over at Pitchfork.
