I knew when I heard Grimes’ ‘Oblivion’ that when a video arrived, it would feature dirtbikes, American football, dancing in fast-food joints and house parties with barechested rowdy blokes. Or not. Either way, Grimes looks so cool throughout the clip. Directed by Emily Kai Bock it doesn’t exactly fit with the whole Grimes dynamic. With a debut, self-titled album arriving next week, the hype around Grimes is pretty startling, and led to this piece on Collapse Board, which doesn’t need to do much to show just how far Stereogum has fallen over the past 18 months.
