Bouts‘ new song, recorded for the Dublin radio station Phantom, begins with a QOTSA-like riff before that single-note picking line that is fast becoming Bouts’ style. It’s not too far removed from ‘Barbs’ off their self-titled debut EP, but with vocals that hint at the Dublin four-piece being fans of the Cribs. It’s more experimental than what they’ve done before, too, and showcase a band brimming with ideas. Bouts are playing plenty of gigs and festivals over the summer so you’ve no excuse not to catch one of the catchiest rock bands in Ireland. (Seriously, I’ve had ‘We Tried’ stuck in my head for about two weeks now. If there’s even a small period of silence, I end up singing it.)
