Ah, this brings back lovely memories. Watford’s the Staves played Mitchelstown Cave in July (quick geography lesson: Mitchelstown is in Cork, Mitchelstown Cave is in Tipperary, and you pass through a part of Limerick to get to it) and it was one of the highlights of my summer. Obviously an unusual venue, what this video doesn’t get across is how cold it got down there. It was freezing. The music the Staves makes can only keep you warm for so long! The trio make another return to Irish shores in November, when they support Bon Iver in the more conventional surroundings of the O2 in Dublin. Won’t be as special as the Cave gig though.
