longitude festival poster

Longitude, the latest rival for Electric Picnic, has this evening announced its lineup, the first of the bigger summer festivals to do so. Longitude takes place over three days, July 19-21, in Marley Park. Early bird weekend tickets cost €129.50 plus TM fees and early bird day tickets cost €44.50 plus fees. They go onsale next Monday, March 4, and will be available until April 7, after which they’ll cost €149.50 and €54.50. The Irish Times has a bit more information on the festival, claiming there will be three stages, two of which will be outdoors – it’s an Irish festival, so bring wellies folks. Also, the capacity, it says, is just 9,500 per day, and will be a mixture of weekend and day ticket holders. That seems incredibly tiny, right? Like, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs could easily sell out a few thousand-seater venue in Ireland, as could any of the other big names. Hmm…

Initial lineup for Longitude:
Kraftwerk (3D set) (what’s a 2D set?)
Vampire Weekend (new album in May)
Yeah Yeah Yeahs (never seen them live)
Hot Chip (but they always play Electric Picnic. What happens now?)
Modest Mouse (YESSS!!!)
Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs
Jake Bugg (bleurgh)
SBTRKT DJ set (A DJ set? But why?)

Mark Lanegan (should be higher up)
