Strong rumours that Blur would be playing Ireland this year have been confirmed. They play the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Kilmainham, Dublin, on Thursday, August 1. That’s where Forbidden Fruit takes place and is Leonard Cohen’s Irish hone. This is Blur’s first Irish show since their Oxegen headlining slot in 2009. Tickets cost €62.50, including Ticketmaster fees, and go on sale this Thursday, March 7, at 9am (not much time to find the €140 it’ll cost for you and a mate to head). The gig is promoted by POD Concerts. It’s a busy year for Graham, Alex, Dave and Damon, who are also headlining Coachella in the US and Primavera in Spain along with a host of other shows. Wonder will they have a new album for us… Here’s my favourite Blur song, recorded at the Glasonbury headliner four years ago.
