kool thing cover large

About a year after we first got acquainted with Kool Thing, the Berlin-based band with Dublin connections, we get their self-titled debut album. Clocking in at 14 tracks, there’s plenty to sink your teeth into. The lead single ‘TV Tower’ we heard a couple of weeks ago, and there are one or two other tracks you might recognise, but most of this collection is new to these ears. They say the album is “united by a feel of escapism, the need to ditch our urban addictions and regain a lost sense of wonderment, even if just for a few hours. With fourteen songs, including two instrumental interludes, kool thing sounds like youth remembered through a kaleidoscopic lens in which each mirrored fact points to limitless futures.” You can buy the album over at their Bandcamp page in digital form or get the CD for €10. You’ll get to hear the album in its live form when Kool Thing play the Button Factory this Saturday, March 9.
