fight like apes

Fight Like Apes are planning their comeback in May. There’s already a new EP due out that month on Alocpop Records and now they’ve announced a few dates around the country. Fresh from the relaunched state.ie proclaiming their debut album Fight Like Apes and the Mystery of the Golden Medallion one of the best of the last five years, Maykapes and the boys announced they will play Cyprus Avenue in Cork on May 11. I think I’ve seen them there twice before, first when the hype around them was first building, and then when it was at its peak, a couple months after the release of their debut album. The gig was so raucous that all members of FLApes crowdsurfed to the back of the room to the backstage after their set. If you’ve been to Cyprus Avenue and seen how low the roof was, that’ll give you some indication of just how CRAZY that night was. Fight Like Apes play Cyprus Avenue on Saturday, May 11. Tickets cost €10 and can be bought here. The band are also playing Dolan’s in Limerick on Friday, May 3, the Dublin Crawl the following night, and the Limelight 2 in Belfast on Wednesday, May 8. There’s no new music from them yet – soon, hopefully – but here’s an awesome video for ‘Knucklehead’. If this doesn’t whet your appetite for their return…
