efterklang brid 1

Cork Opera House announced its programme for May-December last night. There are only a handful of music treats on the list (though more will be announced for the Half Moon, obviously) and the pick of the bunch is Efterklang. The Danish band played there last year and were amazing, by all accounts – my girlfriend hasn’t let me forget that I wasn’t there. They play Friday, October 25, which coincides with the jazz weekend, so that’ll be a busy few days. Tickets cost €25-€35 but I think the early bird ones are gone already. More here. Here’s the video for ‘Ghost’, from Efterklang’s last album, Piramida, their fourth LP.

OK, *deep breath*, here are some of the other music highlights that the Opera House is involved in:

May 31: Nanu Nanu, Half Moon;
July 12: O Emperor, Half Moon;
July 19: Roisin O and Liam O’Maonlai, Mitchelstown Cave;
July 20: SOAK and Declan O’Rourke, Mitchelstown Cave;
July 21: The Henry Girls and West Cork Ukulele Orchestra, Mitchelstown Cave;
July 24: Gamiina (a collaboration between Amiina and sixth class students from Cork Educate Together, UCC School of Music, UCC Gamelan Orchestra and more; should be a unique and memorable experience), Opera House;
September 30: Alison Moyet, Opera House;
October 25: Efterklang, Opera House.

The entire programme of events to December is here.
