Sideproject they made you miss everything cover

I was so happy when I heard a couple of weeks back that Sideproject are making music again. The Cork band only have two EPs under their belts but were one of my favourite Irish bands back when I was in college. The intensity of the live show was unreal, and they’re really sounds lads, too. But then nothing. Michael Cusack told me: “The break (which we never anticipated would be so long) was a combination of various career paths and travel plans and unfortunate timing more than once.” But lament no more, folks, because Sideproject are back with a new five-track EP, They Made You Miss Everything, recorded in Data Studios, Co Kerry, with Tadhg Healy, who recorded Rest’s last album, I Hold The Wolf. The artwork is by Eoghan Walsh. You can stream two tracks from the EP below, the opener ‘Meet Me In Montauk’, and the closer ‘Caleb ‘Kai’ Lawrence’. They offer a pretty good idea of Sideproject’s sound, as well as what you can expect from the rest of the EP. The five piece – Michael Cusack, Thomas Patrick Kavanagh, Diarmuid Curran, Alan Cusack and David Lynch – are also returning to the live stage, starting tomorrow in Dublin with a headline show at Whelan’s with Elk supporting. You can get in free by posting on the Facebook event page ‘guestlist please’. They play the Marina Inn in Dingle, Co Kerry, on Saturday, and on Saturday week, June 15, play their first show in Cork in forever, with a gig in Cyprus Avenue. Elk and Terriers join them for a showcase of local talent. CAN. NOT. WAIT.
