Dublin/Kildare four-piece CPNHGN are gearing up for the release of their debut album later in the year by releasing a new single, ‘When Nobody’s Talking’, this week. A healthy three and a half minutes, it’s one of those tracks where I find myself reaching for the volume button to turn it up a little louder after every play. “Do you want me to behave? It’s so hard when nobody’s talking,” Conor sings, adding later “Can you get me on your side? I don’t care, we’ll always find our way.” It all plays out over an early 90s grungy riff that sounds like it’s been given a shot in the arm. (Someone should put Bouts and CPNHGN on a bill together – I’d go to that!) CPNHGN release ‘When Nobody’s Talking’ on all the usual digital outlets – Spotify, iTunes etc, on Friday, July 5. Expect a video later this week, made by Highly Stimulating Productions, who also did the video for ‘Cry Wolf‘. You can catch CPNHGN live in the Workman’s Club, Dublin, on Thursday, July 4, supporting Touchwood as part of the 10 Days in Dublin festival.
