Elastic Sleep played their first gig last night, Thursday, July 11, downstairs in the Pavilion. A five piece incorporating members of Superblondes, Great Balloon Race and Terror Pop, they only have one song to listen to online, ‘Anywhere’, a far too small slice of dream pop. I wasn’t able to go due to working, but reports (thanks Brid and Aisling) suggest they drew a good crowd and played for 35 minutes. The set’s heavier moments were like Oueens of the Stone Age, while they also threw in a cover of Nancy Sinatra’s James Bond theme, ‘You Only Live Twice’. You can read a little bit more about Elastic Sleep here – another in a long list of promising new bands from Cork. All pictures below by Brid O’Donovan.
