I really enjoyed Cork band the Vincent(s) debut single, ‘Asked Her To The Dance’, which was released back in February. They’ve been ploughing away with the touring since, playing around the country as well as getting support slots with the likes of Fight Like Apes. The Vincent(s) this week announced details of a follow-up to that single and a subsequent tour. The four-track Valley of the Sun EP will be released on August 23 on Fifa Records, which houses an impressive stable of Cork bands and put out that debut single. It’ll be out on CD and download, with an eight-track record following in September. (In Kinsale on Saturday, Ashley Keating of Fifa Records joked about how annoying it is when a band comes to you asking to put out a vinyl release, pointing to the extra €500 or whatever it costs.) I think the Vincent(s) are one of the best live acts in Cork right now, and considering they’ve only been together about a year, that’s fairly impressive – the only way is up, it seems. You can listen to the fourth track from Valley of the Sun below. It’s called ‘Song For The Sea’. After that is an early demo of the EP’s opening track, ‘Who’s That Boy’. The Vincent(s)’ upcoming Irish dates are after the jump.
