Mother Jones Flea Market up by MacCurtain Street, Cork, played host to New York duo Relatives – Ian Davis and Katie Vogel – on Friday evening, July 19. They’re in Ireland for a couple of weeks with a new EP in tow, The Signs That Mock Me As I Go. Released on the Cork-based label MDR, its four tracks are really beautiful, a laid-back mix of folk that made me thing of the Staves. The first song is called ‘Julian Assange’ and features the refrain: “Seek solace no more.” Brilliant. Caoilian Sherlock played support on Friday, and Brid O’Donovan was there to capture the night, and explore Mother Jones. All the pictures are after the jump, below Relatives’ EP, which you can buy here. The duo play the Sky & the Ground in Wexford tomorrow, Citog in Galway on Wednesday, Mountain Dew festival in Cork on Saturday, and the Bowery the following night.
