Promising Cork band Saint Yorda have unveiled the Japanese inspired video for their brand new single ‘Disco’. I’ve fallen really hard for this track. The four piece – Paul O’Reilly, Kevin Terry, Roslyn Steer and Chris Somers – have taken their time releasing new stuff; I saw them supporting We Are Losers a few years back and they seem to have really grown from then. There’s still a ramshackle feel to proceedings, and a tenderness/outsider feel to the lyrics of ‘Disco’. “I don’t think I come across very well,” O’Reilly sings at one point. The song opens with the rather worrying lines: “Pretended to be someone that I never was, I used to go to school around here, I had a few good friends.” What do we believe? I’m not quite sure, but I love the song. ‘Disco’ is out on Fifa Records on August 30. The artwork for the single, continuing the Japanese theme, is after the jump.
