I wasn’t expecting this gig. I especially wasn’t expecting to hear about it late on a Sunday night. MGMT have been revealed as the headliners for Murphy’s Little Big Weekend, which runs from October 18-20, with all the gigs taking place in the Savoy. Whether or not MGMT are really festival headliners – there’s a lot more to them than ‘Kids’ and ‘Electric Feel’ – there’s a stellar support from O Emperor, whose latest album Vitreous is one of the best of the year. MGMT’s third effort can be streamed below, via Spotify. The Stunning and The Would Be’s play the Savoy on the Friday, October 18, while The Jerry Fish Electric Sideshow, supported by the Frank and Walters, take to the stage on Saturday, October 19. According to the press release, the Electric Sideshow is a concoction of music, performance and theatre, and made its debut at Electric Picnic. MGMT and O Emperor play on Sunday, October 20. Doors to each gig are at 7pm, while tickets are free and can be applied for through the Murphy’s website.
