Fresh from their second Mercury nod, this time for the glorious Awayland, Villagers have announced an Irish tour for December. We already knew they were playing Vicar Street on December 17, but they’ve now added preceding dates in Belfast, Derry, Galway and Cork (no Limerick as of yet). Villagers also played the Savoy in March, a gig I very much enjoyed, so I’m looking forward to seeing them there again. No support acts confirmed yet – I’d love to see a little celebration-style bill with some of Conor O’Brien’s mates David Kitt and Jape supporting – since it’s Christmas too, that’d be lovely. (This idea may have been prompted by the fact that, as I type, I’m listening to Dan Hegarty’s 2XM/FM show and he just played Jape’s epic remix of ‘The Waves’. I’ve included that below.) But let’s wait and see. All the tour dates are after the jump. Here’s one of my 11 favourite tracks from Awayland.

Villagers tour dates:
Thursday, December 12 – Limelight, Belfast;
Friday, December 13 – Guild Hall, Derry;
Saturday, December 14 – Seapoint, Galway;
Monday December 16 – Savoy, Cork;
Tuesday, December 17 – Vicar St, Dublin.
