Community of Independents returns for a fourth season next Thursday, October 24. The show will run consecutively for six weeks broadcasting on Dublin Community Television (UPC channel 802). It features a number of profiles of Irish bands, including a feature on Out On A Limb’s 10th birthday party, which took place in Dolan’s on Saturday, August 10. I was lucky enough to be there myself, and experience a one-off show from Giveamanakick, reforming especially for the label. It was a deadly night – my main memory is me watching Elk and thinking, Fuuuuucccck they’re unreal. So I’m glad that Community of Independents recorded a chunk of Gamak’s performance that night in a 25-minute video interspersed with an interview of the band. “We felt we were prolific,” declares Steve. What a band. Out On A Limb, meanwhile, have announced a Christmas party, which will take place in the Crane Lane in Cork on Friday, December 13. Ten Past Seven will be playing their first gig since September last year, I believe. Windings and Rest will be joining them for what looks like a brilliant reason to crack out the mince pies and mulled wine.
