It’s been over a year since the acclaimed third album from Sea Pinks, Freak Waves. In the interim, Neill Brogan’s laid down the sticks for Girls Names to concentrate on what had been a sideproject. The Exploded View EP is our first taste of full-time Sea Pinks. Things haven’t changed too much. Comprising four tracks, all clocking in at around three minutes each, it’s less lofi than before, more cleaner. It’s also infectiously happy, with Sea Pinks coming off like Belfast’s version of the Drums. ‘Magpies Eyes’ is the highlights, more frenetic than the tracks around it. The EP is released on just 100 7″ records, including hand numbered screen printed artwork by Lucy Jones. You’ll have to act fast to snap them up, from the group’s Bandcamp page, where you can also download the EP.
