Women’s Christmas are “the most rugged ones from Jogging, Villagers and No Monster Club”, Ronan Jackson, James Byrne and Bobby Aherne. They formed in the summer because OF COURSE that’s when a band with Christmas in their name get together. And OF COURSE they’re releasing their debut EP on January 6. Anyway, the EP is called Tremendous, was produced by Mark Chester of Ginnels with artwork by Chris Judge and is released on Byrne’s Any Other City Records. It’s six tracks long and you might already have heard ‘Bubble On A Shelf’ (if not, its video is after the jump). ‘With Sea Legs’ is the final song on the collection. The three and a half minutes of laid-back fuzzy guitars begins by discussing the travails of waking up, eventually becoming a defiant will that can conquer all. On December 20, Women’s Christmas play for free upstairs at Whelan’s from midnight, alongside The #1s and Jetsetter.

1. ‘Rope Of Foam’
2. ‘Summer Born, Winter Bred’
