The Late David Turpin – ‘Fur’
Directed by Turpin himself, alongside Mark Duggan – who shot the wonderful cover for We Belong Dead – ‘Fur’ is one of the more beautifully simplistic videos of the year. It’s been a good 2013 for the singer – he talked about the year last week, in our 2013 round up.
Le Galaxie – ‘Lucy Is Here’
This is the only new piece of music we’ve heard from the Dublin band in about 18 months. Two minutes long, it just about satiates the hunger for new music; the video more than compensates, though. It’s a rushed slasher film, directed by Greg Corcoran and Steve Mac Devitt, and features the four members of Le Galaxie’s heads on pitchforks – what’s not to like? The band play Nialler9’s eighth birthday party in the Olympia late on Friday night.
No Monster Club – ‘Those Little Bastards’
One of the most prolific bands in the country return with a new album, Foie Gras, this Friday. ‘Those Little Bastards’ closes the LP, and the video was shot around America on an iPhone 3. DON’T THEY LOOK HAPPY?!?!?
Spies – ‘Distant Shorelines’
Recalling Feel Good Lost’s video for Jape’s ‘The Oldest Mind’, SecondFrame‘s clip for Dublin band Spies mixes mirrored faces with nature and the November sun that we associate with the band.
