A performance I will never forget. What a legend. I came away from his set at Body and Soul with so many photographs. I just couldn’t stop shooting him. He had a pose a minute. [More]

Villagers @ The Savoy, March 19

I eagerly await every chance I get to see Villagers live. It was nerve-wrecking to photograph them from the crowd and I so desperately wanted to capture them as perfectly as I could. Sometimes, and all at once, the lights work in your favour, Conor steps away from the microphone and you are in the perfect spot. [More]

David Kitt @ De Barra’s, April 25
Ah, the beautiful and homely De Barra’s. It can be difficult to avoid disrupting the wonderful atmosphere that an accomplished musician such as Kitt can conjure up but De Barra’s has many nooks and crannies that one can hide in. [More]

Margie Lewis: Unitarian Church, May 5
The Unitarian Church was the perfect spot for Margie at the Camden Crawl this year. In between all my running about, the ethereal Margie Lewis took us away from the hustle and bustle of the busy city through her mesmerising performance. [More]

Young Wonder @ Beamish & Crawford, June 1
To be honest, it’s not often I get to photograph women on stage. Sounds weird doesn’t it? I always look forward to photographing the beautiful and energetic Rachel Koeman. Whether it’s her mad head dress, daring outfit or the decorative stage set-up, there’s always an opportunity to get a a savage shot. Ian ain’t so bad either, like. [More]

Slow Magic @ The Pavilion, June 13
I was so thankful they brought up the lights on the dancefloor when Slow Magic sauntered out and brought his drum with him. People were mad for it. [More]

Bridges of Madison County @ Pine Lodge, Myrtleville, July 13
Pine for Your Loved Ones at Pine Lodge in Myrtleville. Bridges of Madison County were knee-deep in their set and a group of confident kids were dancing outside trying to get our attention. Somehow I managed to capture this girl looking pretty awestruck! [More]

Lee Fields @ Lee Fields, Cork, July 25
On a hot summer’s evening Lee Fields stepped into Lee Fields in Cork. There were lots of people around, cycling, jogging, walking their dogs. He knew how to work the camera, jumping into the air, making flamboyant gestures and these all made for some memorable shots. I like this one where he’s more at ease with himself and the reflection of the fields in his glasses. [More]

The Relatives @ Mountain Dew, July 27
Two of the most beautiful people I have met played a little set down by the river at Colm O’Herlihy’s festival Mountain Dew, near his house in Cork. Pretty damn special. [More]

The Vincent(s) @ The Pavilion, September 14
I love trying to get the amazing features of The Pavilion into frame. It’s such a beautiful venue with some really interesting little details that just pop out at you once you convert an image to black and white. When I shoot a relentless band like The Vincent(s) I sometimes feel like a child in a playground, running around trying to get them at every angle. [More]

JanelleMonaeArthursDay26.09.13

Janelle Monae @ Reardens, September 26
I’m not the biggest fan of Reardens, and I’m definitely not the biggest fan of Arthur’s Day but when I found out that Janelle Monae was going to be playing there, all of that didn’t matter. Pushing myself up to the front, making plenty of enemies along the way, I prayed that someone would let me up front. I eventually got up to a group of young girls who didn’t really know who she was and didn’t mind if I stood in front of them to take photos. Their naivety granted me the opportunity to take some of the best photos I have taken. It was so hard to stay still though. When you have Janelle Monae in front of you, playing songs that you have been dancing around your apartment to for the past two years it’s so hard to keep the camera still. [More]

O Emperor @ The Savoy, October 20
Generally when I photograph O Emperor in Cork I feel the need to stand back for a bit and take it all in. It’s kind of ridiculous how talented they are; when I do this, I look around and I can see people from many different bands around the area doing the same thing as me. [More]

The Altered Hours @ The Pavilion, November 2
At this stage I’m not sure if I can gush about the Altered Hours anymore because I don’t think anyone will listen. They are probably sick of me ranting and raving about them at this stage. When they perform on stage the become different people. They just go into their own world and we all stay on the outside looking in. [More]
