Cork band the Great Balloon Race played their first headline slot in a good few months in the Pavilion on Saturday night. If you’ve been following them since debut album Cardboard, you’ll already know what a good, tight band they are. They’ve got a new single in the pipelines so hopefully we will be hearing more from them in the coming months – and the new songs are ridiculously good. We Arrive Alive, meanwhile, were on support duties. Hailing from Dublin, they ply an instrumental trade – and when their big moments came, they soared, offering a pulverising slab of rock.
