Trout Records Presents is a nine-part series filmed in Asylum studios at Bow lane and shot by Second Frame Films. The videos are all live, in-studio performances of Irish artists. The series so far has captured Enemies, Cian Nugent and Tandem Felix. The latest act to be filmed is the idiosyncratic Myles Manley, who I’ve covered on the blog a few times before. The label has recorded him playing ‘Old Habits Die Hard’, which featured on the Jagger Manque EP last March and the compilation album Greatest Hits 2012-2013. Interesting fact: ‘Old Habits Die Hard’ was the first written and last recorded track for the album. Dedicated here to birthday boy Bob, the song is mired in a sludging bassline, with Manley’s vocals cutting through. I had forgotten how heavy – and hilarious – the song is. Greatest Hits 2012-2013 is available to buy here as part of an artwork compendium or download on a pay what you like basis. Manley also has gigs planned for Dublin and Cork shortly. Event page for both shows is here.
