Despite a few mixes and remixes over the past 12 months or so, I don’t think Dublin duo Ships have released new music since ‘Places‘ well over a year ago. (One half of the band, Simon Cullen, is Lasertom, who released one of my favourite albums last year.) But they’re been busy in the studio and ‘Space Inside’ is the result, a track straight out of disco’s heyday, a menagerie of bassy verses, space-reaching choruses and vibes that wouldn’t be out of place on Beverly Hills Cop. “There’s no resistance, there’s nothing left to find,” Cullen sings, perhaps explaining the song’s raison d’etre in a line. Ships have released ‘Space Inside’ as a 7″ with the Berlin label Stratosfear Recordings. It’s backed with ‘None Of It Real’. You can buy the single at Stratosfear’s Bandcamp page.
