Light Colour Sound is the new name for the Barn on the farm festival which debuted last year, aimed at raising funds for the Kilkenny Steiner School based at Camphill Ballytobin. The organisers obviously enjoyed the experience and are back this year, setting up stage at Shankill Castle in Paulstown, Kilkenny. Yesterday, LCS festival revealed a line-up for Friday and Saturday, July 4 and 5, that made me go oooooh – that’s mainly because of the name Cathy Davey, who I haven’t seen or heard from in far too long. She features alongside headliners And So I Watch You From Afar, a mainstay of Irish festivals already and just back from a tour of Asia, and Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip. Joining them, in no order, are the likes of Wallis Bird, Jape, O Emperor, RSAG, Kila, Halves and Windings; a healthy dose of good Irish music right there. The full list of bands is below. Day tickets are €55 and weekend ones, with camping are €95. Under-12s go free while tickets for those erstwhile 12-17-year-old (I was that age once) can avail of €25 day tickets and €45 weekend tickets – nice. All options are available to buy here.
