I Have A Tribe is the solo project of Patrick O’Laoghaire, the guitarist in Slow Skies. We’ve already heard and fallen for ‘Monsoon‘, which was produced by Conor O’Brien of Villagers. Now we have the delicate atmospherics of ‘Yellow Raincoats’. “A depression rose in my throat, something obscene in between the good bones.” He sounds like the shy younger – but hairier; look at that beard! – brother of Andrew Hozier-Byrne. He’s able to croon like Hozier and we get glimpses of that on the 3.25-minute ‘Yellow Raincoats’. But O’Laoghaire is happier looking down at his guitar, finger-picking his way to a resolution that doesn’t come: the depression is still there. Produced by Rob Ellis (PJ Harvey, Anna Calvi), ‘Yellow Raincoats’ is the title track of I Have A Tribe’s forthcoming EP out on Faction Records on May 12.
