Cork-based five piece Pale Rivers return with their fourth single in just over a year, ‘My Own Comeback’. They still sound as big as ever, with the four-minute track (exactly) drifting along nicely on some 80s synths and punctuated later by some saxophone. Eoin Hally’s low, distorted, almost strained vocals are only needed for about four sentences by my count, shouting along the way: “I was blinded by the fire in your eyes”. ‘My Own Comeback’ was produced at Gavin Glass’s Orphan Studio. Pale Rivers support Pins for free in the Old Oak tonight, Thursday, October 16, and play a headline show upstairs in Whelan’s on Saturday, December 9.
